On 18 February 1878, he applied successfully for a pension (8).
In 1880, he was living at the Central Branch of the National Soldiers Home, in Montgomery County, Ohio (13). He was a farm laborer, but had been out of work for twelve months in the previous year (13). He was single (13).
In 1882, he was present at the Central Branch of the National Soldiers Home (11).
In 1890, he was living in the National Military Home, in Montgomery County, Ohio (7). He had a gunshot wound in his leg (7).
In 1900, he was living in the Central Branch of the National Soldiers Home, in Montgomery County, Ohio (14). He was single (14).
He died in 1906 (8).
