I have assumed that the two Albert Morgan's in Bates are the same person, since the company B Morgan is not on the muster-out roll. The Pennsylvania Archives cards (8) seem to confirm this.
He was 20 years old when he was enrolled (8 [31], 10 [23 probably at reenlistment]). He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (10).
When he enlisted, he was a cigar maker (8, 10). He was living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, when he was enrolled (8).
He was 5 feet 6 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, blue eyes, and brown hair (8 [5'7", dark complexion, blue eyes, dark hair], 10 [5'6", fair complexion, blue eyes, brown hair]). He was smallpox marked (10).
He also served in company B of the 5th US Artillery (13, 14).
He was enlisted and mustered into service on 11 January 1862 (1, 8 [1 Jan 62], 10, 11 [21 Jan 62], 14). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Keyser (10). He was mustered in as a private, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (8). He initially served as a private in company B (1).
He was transferred to company C.
On 7 May 1863, he was reported missing in action (4). On 29 or 30 May 1863, he was reported regained from missing in action (6).
On 6 October 1863, he was reported regained from missing in action (7).
He reenlisted as a veteran volunteer, on 26 March 1864, at Warrenton Junction, Virginia (1, 8).
On 5 November 1864, he was promoted to corporal, effective 3 November 1864 (2, 9).
On 17 June 1865, he went on a furlough, which expired on 2 July 1865 (5).
On 3 July 1865, he was promoted to sergeant, effective either 1 July 1865 (3, 8) or 1 March 1865 (1).
He mustered out on 10 July 1865 with his company (1, 8, 11, 14). He was then a sergeant in company C (1).
In 1890, he was living at 60th and Media, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (11). Perhaps he is the Albert Morgan who lived at North 60th and Lansdowne Avenue, and was a carrier (12).
On 9 August 1890, he applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (13, 14).
He again applied for a pension on 16 February 1907 (14).
He died on 1 December 1920, at the National Soldiers' Home, in Virginia (14).
