During the war

He was enrolled and mustered into service as a private, on 6 December 1861, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1, 2, 6). According to the 1890 census, he enlisted in April 1861 (3). He served as a private in company I (1).

He was discharged on 4 June 1862 on surgeon's certificate of disability (1, 2, 6). According to the 1890 census, he was discharged in April 1863 (3). He served for six months (5).

After the war

On 6 December 1886, he successfully applied for a pension (4, 6).

On 27 September 1888, he was admitted to the National Soldiers Home (5). He was admitted from Pennsylvania (5). He had sciatica, but was not receiving a pension (5).

In 1889, he was present at the Southern Branch of the National Soldiers Home (5).

In 1890, he was living at the National Soldiers Home, Southern Branch, in Elizabeth City County, Virginia (3). He had an internal hernia on his left side (3).

He died on 11 January 1900 (6).
