Description

He was 5 feet 5 inches tall, and had a light complexion, grey eyes, and light hair (6).

During the war

He also served in company D of the 1st Pennsylvania Infantry (7, 8).

He was enlisted and mustered into service in company K on 1 October 1861 (1, 6, 8). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Casner (6). His parents consented to his enlistment (6).

He was probably appointed sergeant on 8 October 1862 (4).

On 18 March 1863, he returned to the regiment, probably from a leave (2).

He was transferred to the Veterans' Reserve Corps on 4 September 1863 (1, 3, 5, 8). He served in company B of the 12th Veterans' Reserve Corp (7, 8). He was unfit for duty because of wounds (5). He was then a private (1).

After the war

On 30 June 1880, he applied unsuccessfully for a pension (7, 8).
