During the war

He was mustered into service for three years in company E on 20 August 1861, at Philadelphia Pennsylvania (1, 2). He was enlisted by Captain Lentz, and mustered into service by Colonel Reiff (2).

He was discharged on 29 July 1862 on surgeon's certificate of disability, at Alexandria, Virginia (1, 2, 3).

After the war

On 8 September 1871, he unsuccessfully applied for a pension (4).
