During the war

He was drafted (1, 3). He enlisted and was mustered into service on 28 February 1865 (1, 2). He was enlisted for one year, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, by Captain Eyster (2). He was mustered in as a private, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania (3). His enlistment was credited to the sixteenth congressional district (2). He served as a private in company A (1).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1).

After the war

He applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension on 21 November 1887 (4, 5).

He died on 10 January 1899, at Haynesboro [sic], Pennsylvania (4). (As far as I have been able to determine, no place in Pennsylvania is or was named 'Haynesboro'.)

His widow, Anna Mary Smith, applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension on 1 February 1899 (4, 5).
