Description

He was 5 feet 8-1/2 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, blue eyes, and mixed hair (2, 4). He had a mole on the right side of his nose (4).

During the war

He was enrolled and mustered into service on 24 August 1861 (1, 2, 4, 5). He was enrolled for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Colonel Reiff (2, 4, 5). He was mustered in as a private, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2). He served as a private in company C (1).

He deserted at Alexandria, Virginia, on 5 June 1862 (1, 5) or 30 June 1862 (2, 3, 4). The company C register of deserters reports that his "whereabouts [were] not known" (3).
