He married Charlotte O'Neal (6). They had these children (6, 7):

In 1860, he was living in West Providence Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania (8). He was living with his wife Charlotte, and children Gilbert and Jordan (8). He was a farmer, and owned real estate worth $700 and personal property worth $565 (8).

He was a farmer when he was enlisted (4).

Description

He was 5 feet 8-1/2 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, grey eyes, and dark hair (4).

During the war

He was drafted (1, 2, 4). His service was credited to the sixteenth congressional district (4). He was enlisted and mustered into service on 21 September 1864 (1, 2, 4). He was enlisted for one year, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania (4). He was mustered in as a private, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania (2). He served as a private in company I (1).

He was discharged by general order on 30 or 31 May 1865 (1, 2, 3 [31 May], 4 [31 May]).

After the war

In 1870, he was living in West Providence Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania (9). He was living with his wife Charlotte, and children Gilbert, Jordan, Rhoda, and Ambert (9). He was a farmer, and owned real estate worth $2,000, and personal property worth $450 (9).

In 1880, he was living in West Providence Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania (10). He was living with his wife Charlotte and children Rhoda and Ambert (10). He was a farmer (10).

On 28 June 1880, he applied successfully for a pension (5, 11).

He died on 25 April 1892, in East Providence Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania (6, 7, 11 [Apr 1890, Everett PA]).

He was buried in the Bethel Reformed Cemetery (Frame Church), in Clearville, Pennsylvania (6). His grave has a GAR flagholder (6).

On 5 July 1892 [??], his widow, Charlotte Steckman, applied unsuccessfully for a pension (5, 11).

His widow, Charlotte Steckman, died on 8 May 1900, in Bedford County, Pennsylvania (6). She was buried at the Bethel Reformed Cemetery (Frame Church), Clearville, Pennsylvania (6).
