Annanias Stahl

Before the war

He was born in Pennsylvania (8). He was 33 years old when he was enrolled (3, 8 [28 in 1860]).

In 1860, he was living in Somerset Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania (8). He was a carpenter, and owned $800 in real estate and $250 in personal property (8). He was living with his wife Barbara, and with John, Herman, and John Miller (presumably their children) (8).

During the war

He was drafted (1, 3). He was enrolled and mustered into service on 11 March 1865 (1, 3). He was mustered in as a private at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania (3). He served as a private in company B (1).

He may have been "not to be charged"--perhaps for lost equipment, when the regiment mustered out (2).

He died of disease, on 1 July 1865 (1, 3, 4, 7). He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery (4).

After the war

On 7 August 1865, Barbara Stahl, his widow, successfully applied for a pension (5, 6).

In 1870, his widow, Barbara Stahl, was living in Somerset Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania (9). She was living with John, Herman, Elah [?], and Mary (presumably her children (9).

On 30 October 1871 [?], J Miller Stahl, a minor dependent, successfully applied for a pension (5, 6).
