He was enlisted and mustered into service on 9 September 1861 (1, 4, 5). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Starr (4, 5). He served as a private in company C (1).

He was transferred to the Veterans' Reserve Corps on 30 September 1863 (1, 2, 3, 5). According to the company C descriptive roll, he was deceased (4).
