Description

He was 5 feet 6-3/4 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, hazel eyes, and brown hair (2).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service as a private for three years in the 118th Pennsylvania Infantry on 10 September 1863, at Norristown, Pennsylvania (1, 2, 4, 5).

He was transferred from the 118th PA to the 91st PA, company E, on 2 June 1865, by special order 138, headquarters Army of the Potomac, dated 1 June 1865 (1, 2, 4). He had received an advance bounty of $25, and was owed $75 (2). He had drawn $49.09 in clothing since he enlisted (2). He had last been paid, by Major Holman, on 31 December 1864 (2).

On 26 June 1865, he was detailed for duty in the 1st division, 5th corps, quartermaster department (3).

He was mustered out on 10 July 1865 with his company (1, 4, 5).

After the war

On 30 June 1880, he successfully applied for a pension (6).

In 1890, he was living in Quakertown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania (5).

On 3 September 1907, he again applied for a pension (6).

He died on 5 July 1911, in Quakertown, Pennsylvania (6).

On 18 July 1911, his widow successfully applied for a pension (6).
