Description

He was 5 feet 2-1/2 inches tall, and had a light complexion, grey eyes, and sandy hair (8, 9 [5'3"]).

During the war

He was enlisted and mustered into service on 3 January 1862 (1, 8, 10, 23). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (8). He served in company G (1).

He was reported absent without leave on 6 March 1863 (4), but had returned by the 7th (5).

He reenlisted as a veteran volunteer on 20 February 1864 (1, 9). He was reenlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Lorre [?] (9).

On 5 November 1864, he was promoted from the ranks to corporal, effective 1 November 1864, by special order 104 (2, 7, 8, 9).

On 27 April 1865, he was promoted to sergeant, effective 1 April 1865 (1, 3, 7).

On 28 June 1865, he went on a furlough, which expired on 13 July 1865 (6).

He was absent when the regiment mustered out (1, 10 [discharged 5 July 65], 12 [discharged 15 July 1865]).

After the war

In 1890, he was living at 1931 Manton Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (10, 11). He was an inspector (11).

On 9 March 1890, he successfully applied for a pension (12).

He again applied for a pension on 1 April 1907 (12).

He died on 12 May 1921 [?], at West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (12).
