He enlisted and was mustered into service on 7 April 1864 (1, 2). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Britton (?) (2). He served as a private in company A (1).
He was wounded on 18 June 1864 at Spottsylvania Court House, Virginia [sic; I assume this is a mistake for Petersburg] (1, 8).
On 1 November 1864, he was reported deserted (6). But on 2 December 1864, he was reported regained, having been "dropped in error" (7).
He was discharged by general order on 14 June 1865 (1).
On 29 September 1874 [?], he unsuccessfully applied for a pension (3, 4).
In 1880, he was living in Burtonville [?], St Clair County, Michigan (5). He was a farmer (5). He was living with his wife Elizabethy, and five children (5).
He died on 8 January 1887 (3).
On 24 February 1888, his widow, Elizabeth Warford, successfully applied from Ohio for a pension (3, 4).
