Joel Weeks

Before the war

He was 25 years old when he was enrolled (7).

He was living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, when he was enrolled (7).

During the war

He was enrolled and mustered into service as a private on 12 October 1861 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1, 4, 7, 9). He served as a private in company B (1).

He was wounded on 13 December 1862 at Fredericksburg, Virginia (1, 7). On 4 May 1864, he was discharged because of those wounds, at Washington, D.C. (1, 4 [discharged 13 Dec 62], 8, 9).

The regiment received an official report of his death, and reported on 8 February 1863 that he had died of his wounds in hospital at Washington, DC (3). However, in May 1864, he was reported absent wounded since 13 December 1862, in a hospital in Washington [DC] (10). And Lentz reported on 9 July 1864 that the regiment had been informed that he had been discharged (2), and the morning report of 14 February corrected the error (5).

After the war

He applied successfully for a pension (4).
