He was born on 1 June 1848, to Emanuel and Anna Catherine Thomas Weigle (13 [based on age at death]). According to the 1900 census, he was born in May 1852, but that is presumably a mistake given the other information we have. He was 17 years old when he was enlisted (2, 4 [74 years, 5 months, 6 days at death], 5 [2 in 1850], 6 [12 in 1860], 7 [22 in 1870], 8 [32 in 1880], 9 [48 in 1900], 10 [70 in 1920], 11 [62 in 1910]). He was born in Adams County, Pennsylvania (2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11).
In 1850, he was living in Butler Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania (5). He was living with Emanuel and Catherine Weigle (presumably his parents), and with Hannah, Benjamin, William, and Isaac Weigle (presumably his siblings) (5).
In 1860, he seems to have been living in Tyrone Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania (6). He was living with Daniel Turner and others (6). He had attended school within the year (6).
He was a miller when he was enlisted (2).
His brother Benjamin Franklin Weigle also served in the 91st Pennsylvania (13).
He was 5 feet 8 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, blue eyes, and light hair (2).
He was a substitute for Jake Brain (1, 2). He was enlisted and mustered into service on 23 March 1865 (1, 2, 3, 12). He was enlisted for one year, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, by Captain Eyster (2). His service was credited to the Sixteenth Congressional District (2). He served as a private in company G (1).
He received clothing worth $40.57 (2).
He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1, 3, 12 [6 July]).
In 1870, he was living in Huntington Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania (7). He was living with his parents Emanuel and Catherine Weigle, and with his siblings Hannah, Franklin, William, Isaac, Caroline, Isabel, Jeremiah, and Clara (7). He was a farmer, and owned $2,450 in real estate and $700 in personal property (7).
In 1880, he was living in Huntington Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania (8). He was living with his parents Emanuel and Catherine, and his siblings Isaac, Hannah [?], and Jeremiah (8). He was a laborer (8).
In 1890, he was living in Huntingdon Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania (post office: Heidlesburg) (3).
He successfully applied for a pension on 5 July 1892 (12).
In 1900, he was living in Huntington Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania (9). He was living with his siblings Hannah, Isaac, and Jeremiah (9). He was a huckster, and had been unemployed for 6 months in the previous year (9).
In 1910, he was living on Whiskey Spring Road, Franklin Township, York County, Pennsylvania (11). He was a farmer, on a general farm (11).
On 10 [?] August 1910, he again applied for a pension (12).
In 1920, he seems to have been living in Franklintown Borough, York County, Pennsylvania (10). If so, he was living alone, and had no occupation (10).
His skull was fractured when he was struck by a car on Friday 3 November 1922, in Heidlersburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania (4). He was crossing the street, and stepped back into the car's path, probably because he was probably blinded by the car lights (4).
He died on Tuesday, 7 November 1922, at the Warner Hospital, in Adams County, Pennsylvania (4, 12, 13). Reverends W L Kauffman and J Berkholder conducted the funeral services (4). He was buried in the Sunnyside Cemetery at York Springs, Adams County, Pennsylvania ( 4).

Abram Weigle, of Heidlersburg, died at the Warner Hospital, Tuesday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, as a result of a fractured skull sustained when he was struck by an automobile in the square at Heidlersburg, last Friday evening at 8 o'clock. He was aged 74 years, 5 months and 6 days.
Mr. Weigle was admitted to the hospital last Friday evening at 9 o'clock after being run down by the car driven by W. H. Mort, 527 East Comfort street, Altoona. He was injured about the head and face, but the report of the first examination showed no bones had been broken. He was conscious, but suffered considerable pain in his head.
By a later examination, it was found that Mr. Weigle also sustained a fractured skull as a result of being knocked to the concrete road with great force.
His condition rapidly became worse, and Tuesday at noon he was said by those in charge at the hospital to be sinking. Death followed later in the afternoon.
Was on ErrandThe accident of which Mr. Weigle was the victim occurred on the square at Heidlersburg as the aged man was crossing the Harrisburg road. He had gone to a store to have some [page 3] money changed and being unsuccessful at one store started across the square to another.
Coming toward Gettysburg at the time was the automobile driven by Mr. Mort. The lights of his car, it is said, partially blinded Mr. Weigle as he was crossing the street. The aged man is said to have stpped back, evidently dazed, directly in the path of the machine. Mr. Mort made every effort to avoid an accident but was unsuccessful and a fender of his machine struck Mr. Weigle.
Mr. Mort stopped his car and picking Mr. Weigle up, hurried him to the Warner Hospital here.
Fought in Civil War.Mr. Weigle, who was a veteran of the Civil War, lived alone in Heidlersburg. He retired from farming, in which he was engaged, many years ago.
Surviving are three brothers and one sister: William and Jenne [?] Weigle, Heidlersburg, and Jeremiah Weigle and Mrs. D. K. Walker, of Hunterstown.
Funeral services at his late home in Heidlersburg, Friday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock conducted by the Rev. W. L. Kauffman and the Rev. J. Berkholder. Buried in the Sunnyside Cemetery at York Springs.
