During the war

He was enlisted and mustered into service on 16 September 1861 (1, 3). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Smith (3). He served as a private in company C (1).

He was mustered out at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 12 December 1861, on surgeon's certificate of disability (1). He was then a musician (2).

He was not on the muster-out roll when the regiment mustered out (1).
