He was 5 feet 6-1/2 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, dark eyes, and grey hair (3).
He was enlisted and mustered into service on 8 October 1861 (1, 3). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Colonel Zinn (3). He was mustered in as a private in company H (1). He had rifle number 99 (3).
He was discharged at [illegible] Barracks, in Washington DC, on 6 April 1862 on surgeon's certificate of disability (1, 2, 3).
On 9 July 1890, his widow successfully applied for a pension (4).
