Andrew Wolf

Before the war

He was born to Zachariah and Eliza Wolff (7, see also 8). He was 21 years old when he enlisted in 1864 (2, 6 [37 in 1880], 7 [54 in 1897 at death], 8 [17 in 1860]). He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2, 6, 8).

In 1860, he was living in ward 16, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (8). He was living with his parents, Zachariah and Eliza Wolf, along with other people (8). He was an apprentice wheelwright (8).

When he enlisted, he was a paperhanger (2).

Description

He was 5 feet 8 inches tall, and had a light complexion, blue eyes, and dark hair (2).

During the war

He also served in company E of the 33rd Pennsylvania Militia Infantry (3, 4).

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 6 February 1864 (1, 2). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Hildeburn (2). He served as a private in company A (1).

He was wounded on 18 June 1864 at Petersburg, Virginia (1).

He was transferred to the Veterans' Reserve Corps (1, 2). The regiment reported his transfer on 12 November 1864 (5). He served in 59 Company 2 Battalion (3, 4).

After the war

On 26 January 1867, he successfully applied for a pension (3; 4 does not list this application).

In 1880, he was living at 528 Master Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (6). He was living with his wife Marie and daughter Estalla (6). He was a paperhanger (6).

He died on 2 September 1897 (7). The funeral was held on Monday at his late residence, 606 West York Street (7). He was buried at Monument Cemetery (7).

On 7 September 1887 [?], his widow, Mary M Wolff, successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension (3, 4).

WOLFF.--On the 2d instant, Andrew, son of the late Zachariah and Eliza Wolff, in the 54th year of his age. The relatives and friends, also Survivors of Ninety-first Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, are invited to attend the funeral services, at his late residence 606 west York street, on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment at Monument Cemetery.
