During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 20 August 1861, as a musician, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1, 5, 6, 7 [private], 8). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Starr (6).

At some point, he was reduced to the ranks (5).

On 28 July 1863, he was reported as having been dropped because he was missing in the campaign (probably after 11 June 1863) (3). He was regained on 13 August 1863 (4).

He reenlisted as a veteran volunteer on 26 December 1863, at Bealton, Virginia (1, 7).

He was wounded on 18 June 1864 at Petersburg, Virginia (1).

On 27 June 1865, he was promoted to corporal, effective 1 May 1865 (1, 2, 7).

He mustered out on 10 July 1865 with his company (1, 7, 8).

After the war

On 28 July 1891, and on 7 February 1908, he applied successfully for a pension (8).

In 1891/1892, he married [unknown] (9). This was his first marriage (9).

In 1910, he was living at 2111 Mount Vernon Street, ward 15, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (9). He was not working (9).

He died on 29 [?] June 1916, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (8).
