Pink Lady Civil War Page
This page is currently for Civil War Soldiers in my family that are either direct ancestors or siblings of direct ancestors. I hope to eventually include more distant relatives like cousins, and definitely soldiers in other wars like the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Soldiers are listed alphabetically according to surname and under the flag: confederate or union of how they served.

The Britt family was a Unionist family and this may have had something to do with the fact that John B. Britt's mother Holland was disinherited by her father because her husband did not own slaves. (Obviously she was not against the idea of slavery herself because her will indicates she had some) For more on the Britt family in general check out my research page.

Possibilities?
Basically to search for Civil War Soldiers I first try the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System web site. After that, since my ancestors at this time period are all Tennesseans I next check the Tennessee Civil War Units Criss Cross page to determine what county the regiment of a particular soldier is based in. I'm usually looking for Carroll and Henry but sometimes soldiers crossed county lines and it can be tricky. I consider counties close to the Henry/Carroll area, and possibly even Kentucky. Not only that but it's very common for soldiers to serve in more than one regiment. If you can think that any of these men are or are not whom I questioned please tell me what you know- even hints.
Crawford, John J.
Regiment(s): Napier's Battalion- TN Calvary, CSA
Is this my GGG Grandfather John J. Crawford who married a Susan C.?
I have since learned that there is a John J. Crawford who dies at Rock Island, IL. This is a major Union prison for Confederate Soldiers-esp. from Tennesse and since my John Crawford is on the 1860 Henry Co. Census but not the 1870 census with his family it does support the idea that he may have died in the Civil War. It now seems that my Crawford family is one of the families in the middle TN-north AL border area of Lincoln-Marshall Co. TN and Madison-Limestone Co. AL.
Grooms, S.M.
Regiment(s): 46th TN Infantry Co. F , CSA
Is this my GG Grandmother Sophia Grooms's older brother Samuel M. Grooms who married Eliza Anderson Baldwin?
Throgmorton, William
Regiment(s): 5th TN Infantry Co. 2nd C, CSA
Is this my GGG Grandmother Sarah Lucinda's younger brother William Robert "Robin" Throgmorton who married Lucinda Caroline Bevil?
