Pink Lady Civil War Page

This page is currently for Civil War Soldiers in my family that are either direct ancestors or siblings of direct ancestors. I hope to eventually include more distant relatives like cousins, and definitely soldiers in other wars like the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Soldiers are listed alphabetically according to surname and under the flag: confederate or union of how they served.

The Britt family was a Unionist family and this may have had something to do with the fact that John B. Britt's mother Holland was disinherited by her father because her husband did not own slaves. (Obviously she was not against the idea of slavery herself because her will indicates she had some) For more on the Britt family in general check out my research page.

For the sad fate of John Britt and his son James see the 7th TN Union Volunteer Calvary article on Rootsweb.

Possibilities?

Basically to search for Civil War Soldiers I first try the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System web site. After that, since my ancestors at this time period are all Tennesseans I next check the Tennessee Civil War Units Criss Cross page to determine what county the regiment of a particular soldier is based in. I'm usually looking for Carroll and Henry but sometimes soldiers crossed county lines and it can be tricky. I consider counties close to the Henry/Carroll area, and possibly even Kentucky. Not only that but it's very common for soldiers to serve in more than one regiment. If you can think that any of these men are or are not whom I questioned please tell me what you know- even hints.

Thank you for stopping by, please come back soon!
