John R. Babbs Dies at Family Home
Sunday Afternoon of Asthma
John R. Babbs, for over forty years a resident of this city, a member of the G.A.R., and some years ago a janitor at city hall and lately a messenger for the carrying of the mail from the post office to the depot, died at his home at 220 South Center street at 11:30 a.m. Sunday last of heart trouble which was brought on by several years suffering from asthma which was contracted while Mr. Babbs was employed as a miner.

Mr. Babbs was 72 years, four months and 18 days of age and was a father of a large family of boys and girls, all of whom are grown and most of whom live in this city. He also leaves an aged wife, and his loss will be sadly felt in the home and in the ranks of the old comrades with whom he fraternized. The funeral was held Wednesday from the residence and the interment was at Glenwood cemetery.
