Collinsville Herald - April 30, 1915

James E. Baily, age 74 years, 11 months and 13 days, a Civil War veteran died at the family home on Powell Avenue, Wednesday, April 28th. Paralysis, a stroke of which he suffered several months ago added to the infirmities of old age was the cause of death.

Deceased is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters, all of whom are married. The funeral was held from the home of his son-in-law, Charles Guttersohn, 232 N. Seminary, interment in Glenwood. The local G.A.R. post and affiliated organizations attended.

NOTE: The death date on the stone differs from the obituary. The cemetery sexton's records were used for the dates. It was too late to change the date once discovered. The obituary date is the correct one. (gb)
