| Wesley Beaver,
aged eighty years, nine months and thirteen days,
died at St. Marys hospital in East St.
Louis Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. following a
paralytic stroke. Some time ago he was stricken
while in the Oddfellows hall and was left
in a serious condition. Another stroke came about
noon Tuesday and was removed to the East St.
Louis hospital. Mr. Beaver was born in Greenville,
Mo., on March 2, 1840. He came to Collinsville
when he was eighteen years of age. In 1896 he was
married to Miss Flora Fitzpatrick who preceded
him in death nine years ago. Until a year ago he
was employed at the water works, which position
he held for twenty five years.
The deceased is
survived by one sister, Mrs. Sarah Drake, one
son, Marion, two nieces, Mrs. E. S. Jester and
Mrs. Jane Dorelite, and two nephews, Jess Drake
of this city and George McCarty of Avis, Illinois
Funeral services
will be in charge of the Odd Fellows lodge of
which he was a member. The services will be held
from the home of E.S. Jester, 647 North Summit,
to the Baptist church and then to the Glenwood
cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Colbert will
officiate.
