Staff Sergeant Robert
Brancaglione, son of Mr. And Mrs. John
Brancaglione, 420 Bissell Avenue, has been killed
in action on February 10. The telegram received
by his parents here on Monday, February 19, did
not reveal in which country the young man was in
at the time of his death. He was previously
reported wounded on January 13 in Belgium, and is
supposed that he was returned to his outfit after
recovery. Whether or not it was still in Belgium
is not known.Sgt. Brancaglione was born in
Collinsvile on December 23, 1922, being
twenty-two at the time of his death. He attended
the Webster and McKinley Schools and graduated
from CTHS in 1940. Before he enlisted in the Army
he was employed as a bricklayer for his father.
Brancaglione was
sworn into service in October,1942, and trained
at Camp Polk, Louisiana. He left for England with
an armored engineers unit in September,1944,
later making the crossing into France and
Belgium.
Besides his
parents, Sgt. Brancaglione is survived by a
brother, Marine Sgt. John Brancaglione, stationed
at Portsmouth, Virginia

Rites For
S/Sgt. Brancaglione, Killed in Belgium |
| The last rites
for S/Sgt. Robert Brancaglione, son of Mr. and
Mrs. John Brancaglione, 420 Bissel Ave; were held
here at 11 a.m., Thursday from Schroeppel Funeral
Home to First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Rev. Percy
Ray conducted the military rites and members of
the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars
posted guard of honor and acted as pallbearers. Burial was made in Lutheran
Cemetery.
His casketed
remains arrived at 4:15 Tuesday and was met by
city officials and veterans at the Pennsylvania
R.R. Station.
Sgt. Brancaglione was
killed in action in Belgium, February 10, 1945,
wounded January 13, 1945, he had returned to
action. He was a member of Co. A 56TH
Amored Bn., 11th Regiment. He was sworn into
service in October,1942, trained at Camp Polk,
La., and left for England with an armored
engineers unit in September, 1944.
At the time of his
death, Sgt. Brancaglione was 23. He graduated
from CTHS in 1940 and took up the bricklayers
trade, working for his father.
He is survived by
his parents, a brother, John Brancaglione, and
two nephews, John and William Brancaglione.
