| John Carol Clark,
aged 87 years, died January 27 at Webster Groves,
Mo., where he had made his home for the past few
years. He was well known in Collinsville, having
been engaged in business here for many years. He
and his family left here about thirty five
years ago for St. Louis, where they since
resided. Mr. Clark enlisted in the Union Army
February 18, 1862 and served until the close of
the war. He was married October 9, 1867 to Miss
Mary Elizabeth Dunnegan of Alton. Six children
were born to this union, three of whom are
living: D.F. and W.C. Clark of St. Louis, and
G.A. Clark of California. Mrs. Clark preceded her
husband to the grave twelve years ago. Besides
his children, Mr. Clark is survived by two
cousins, Mrs. Sarah Lanham and J.L. Kingsbury of
this city. Funeral
services were held Monday afternoon from funeral
parlors on Union avenue after which the remains
were brought to this city and buried in the
Glenwood cemetery beside his wife. The funeral
was largely attended by many sympathizing
relatives and friends of the family.
