Henry Diaz (1925-1944)

Pvt. Henry Diaz, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Diaz, 337 Central avenue was reported killed in action Sunday, August 6, somewhere in France, in a telegram received by his mother, Mrs. Stella B. Diaz Monday, August 21, from the War Department.

Young Diaz, a member of the infantry entered the service in November, 1943, and received his infantry training at Camp Blanding, Fla. He was sent overseas some four months ago, being stationed somewhere in England, and then moving on to France.

On Friday, August 4, the Diaz family received their last letter from their son, at which time he urged his parents to send some writing paper and stamps, and stated that he had plenty of money, but he couldn’t buy these essential needs.

Young Diaz is a member of the Collinsville Township High School graduating class of 1943.
