Pfc. Albert Hiken, 29, was killed in an auto
accident at or near Camp Gordon, Ga., some time
Wednesday according to a message from the War
Department, received by his wife, Mrs. Eva Hiken
of Granite City, and relayed to his parents, Mr.
And Mrs. Emil Hiken of 917 West Clay street. No
particulars of the accident was given, and none
were given in response to a Red Cross inquiry
Thursday.Private
Hiken was born and raised in Collinsville and
attended the Collinsvile schools. After
graduating from high school he was employed in
the Hiken Bros. Furniture Company store here. He
entered the service in January, 1944, and was
assigned to the infantry. Mrs. Hiken then moved
to Granite City to live with her parents.
He is survived by
his wife and a three-year old child, his parents,
and one brother, Staff Sergeant Sidney Hiken, in
a camp in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Funeral
arrangements had not been made Thursday.
