Sgt. Thomas E. Jackson,
husband of Mrs. Mary Jackson, 508 West Main
Street, and son of Mr. and Mrs. Othar Jackson,
Centerville, Missouri, was killed in action
somewhere in Belgium on December 20 according to
a wire received by his mother on Saturday,
January 13. She notified his wife, the former
Miss Mary Meadows by telephone. In 1937, Sgt. Jackson
enlisted in the Army, and was stationed at
Jefferson Barracks for two years. He and Miss
Meadows were married after his discharge from the
service at that time. In 1942 he again
volunteered and was accepted for paratroop
infantry at Scott Field, and was trained at Camp
Roberts, California. After receiving his wings,
he was sent overseas in August 1943, landing in
England. Later he served in France, Holland and
Belgium.
In writing to his
wife early in December, Jackson stated he had
been in a number of bloody battles, and had
numerous Jerries to his credit.
Besides his wife
and parents, Sgt. Jackson is survived by three
sisters, Mrs. Ilene Santhuff, Piedmont, Missouri,
Mrs. Myrl Miller, Lesterville, Missouri, and Miss
Imogene Jackson, Centerville; four brothers, John
of St. Louis, Delbert, Paul and LeRoy of
Centerville.
