C.H. Krafft, 88 - Former Owner of Store Here, Dies
 
Funeral Services to be Held Saturday Morning
For Veteran Of Civil War

Charles Henry Krafft (1845-1933)C.H. Krafft, 88 years old, proprietor of a general merchandise store in Collinsville for many years and a member of the G.A.R., died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Merrell, 5071 Westminster Place, St. Louis. Krafft’s store which was one of the most popular trading centers in the county many years ago, was located at the corner of Main and Vandalia streets, the building now owned by the Moose lodge.

Mr. Krafft was born on January 13, 1845, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. He came to the United States with his parents when he was six years of age. On October 13, 1875, he was married to Ollie Johnston, the ceremony being performed in Clarksville, Mo.

Mr. Ktafft was a member of Co. H of the First Wisconsin Infantry during the Civil War. His wartime record extended from 1861 to 1865.

The body of Mr. Krafft will remain at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Merrell in St. Louis until 8 o’clock Saturday morning, after which it will be at the funeral home of the Schroeppel Undertaking Co., Inc. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 o’clock Saturday morning. Rev. Daniel Breeze, retired Presbyterian minister, will be in charge. Internment will be made in Glenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Krafft is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ollie Krafft, one daughter, Mrs. Madge K. Merrell, and two grandchildren, Dorothy and Bert Merrell.
