| Oliver C. Look
succumbed to pneumonia at his late residence on
Church and Aurora streets Sunday afternoon at 2
oclock. He was ill only a few days. At his
bedside when he passed away were all of the
immediate members of the family. Deceased leaves
surviving him, his wife, and five children, They
are J.N. Look, Horace Look, Florence Look, Mrs.
James I. Dilliard, of this city, and Mrs. William
Combs, of Minneapolis, Minn. Mr. Look was born in
Collinsville in 1826 and engaged in the harness
making business here for a number of years. He
took a great interest in real estate and was
convinced that investments made in Collinsville
would bring great profits. He was also president
of the Home Building Association for about ten
years. Mr. Look was a prominent Republican and a
veteran of the Civil War. The funeral took place
at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from the residence. The
internment was at Glenwood cemetery. He was a
recruiting officer in the 117th Illinois Vol.
Infantry under Col. Moore. He served three years.
After his return from the war he was appointed
Internal Revenue Collector under Governor Yates.
The funeral took
place from the late residence. Rev. H. Hardin
Branch, of the Presbyterian church officiated.
The honorary pallbearers were Messrs: Jos. Peers,
J.S. Peers, R.S. Reed, F.P. Beidler, W. Johnson,
C.H. Krafft, Dr.Horeph Johnson, and C.D.
Kneedler. The active pallbearers were Messrs:
E.G. Gerdling, Jos. Combs, Louis F. Lumaghi, W.N.
Chandler, C. McCord, Ben McKeen, L.P. Krafft and
Sanford Cox.
