CONSTABLE JOHN MORRISS OF COLLINSVILLE,
DIES FROM INJURIES
Information About What is Going on in the City
and Its Environments |
| John H. Morriss,
constable of Collinsville, who was injured in an
electric car collision ten days ago, is dead. He
passed away very suddenly at noon at his home.
The accident took place at 4:30 p.m. on Friday,
June 5. Two cars crashed together on a curve near
the western city limits of Collinsville. The
track there is hidden by a hedge which curves
with the rails, and the front ends of the cars
were completely demolished by the shock. Mr. Morriss had almost
gotten in the clear, and was drawing his right
foot out of danger when it was caught and crushed
off just above the ankle. Amputation was
performed and was repeated and the patient was
considered in no great straits. The shock,
however, proved to have been to great, and his
heart suddenly ceased to beat.
What arrangements
have been made for the funeral is not known here.
Mr. Morriss was 60 years old and leaves a wife
and, a number of children, nearly all grown.
