Pvt. Albert J.
Moz Paoli, twenty-year old son of
Mrs. Ida Paoli, 528 West Main Street, was
reported missing in action since Tuesday, October
17, somewhere in Germany, in a telegram received
by his mother from the War Department Monday,
November 13.Pvt.
Paoli was inducted into the armed forces of his
country on July 7, 1943, and received his
infantry training at Camp Hulen, Texas. He was
sent overseas sometime in September, 1944, being
first stationed in England, then moving on to
France, Belgium, Ireland, Scotland, and then
Germany.
Mrs. Paoli last
heard from her boy in a letter postmarked October
5, which she received the latter part of October.
Pvt. Paoli told his mother that he had already
been in five countries, and hoped to see more. He
said, I visited Paris, its like New
York, and for the girls well, its like
Washington nine to one. He went on to say
that the food is very good, but the United
States is far better than any country over
here. He told his mother that the people
are friendly, so dont worry about me,
because I am safe. May God bless you mother, my
sister Irma, and brother Guido. Guido is a
Petty Officer Second Class, stationed with the
Navy somewhere in the Pacific.
Pvt. Paoli
attended the Public Grade Schools here, and
attended the Collinsville Township High School
for three years. After two months had passed in
his senior year, he was inducted into the armed
forces.

photo), Pvt. Paoli also has a military marker set
at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in
Collinsville, Madison Co., IL.
