PFC Dearil J. Rogers (1925-1945)Pfc. Dearil J. Rogers, husband of Mrs. Connie Rogers, San Diego, California, and son of Mrs. Nellie Fawbush, 102 East South Street, was killed in action on January 15, somewhere in Belgium, a telegram sent to his mother revealed Friday, January 26.

Rogers, a member of the Medical corps, enlisted in October, 1942, and was sent to Camp Cooke, California, for training. Last October he was sent to England and into Belgium, where he met his death.

Rogers was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, twenty years ago, but moved with his family to Madison County when he was two years old. He attended grade school in Troy, where the family resided until six years ago. Before his induction, he was employed at Blaha’s Tavern.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his stepfather, Elmer Fawbush, his sister, Mrs. Charles Bowers, of Stayton, Oregon, and three brothers, Lt. William Rogers, listed as missing in action, Sgt. Sammie Rogers, a cook with the A.A.F. in India, and Lee Rogers, S 1/C in the Marshal Islands.
