Funeral
Services Will Be Held This Afternoon
Internment in Catholic CemeteryFred Scharpff, 77 years
old, assitant supervisor of Collinsville
township, a veteran of the Civil War, died at
9:20 oclock Wednesday morning of nephritis
at his home, 103 West Lincoln street. Funeral
services will be held this Friday afternoon at
two oclock from the residence to the
Methodist Church, Rev. William H. Poole will
officiate. Internment will be made in the
Catholic cemetery.
Mr. Scharpff was
born on March 4, 1846, in Pennsylvania. He came
to Collinsvillle about 60 years ago. He is
survived by his widow, Mrs.
Malinda Scharpff,
two daughters, Mrs. Felix McGurk and Mrs. Dan
Buckley of East St. Louis and two sons, Howard
and Oliver Scharpff.
Mr. Scharpff was a
charter member of the local I.O.O.F lodge, was a
member of the G.A.R. and Maryville local of the
U.M.W. of A.
