Wm. Thompson - Old Resident dies Sunday
 
Wm. H. Thompson, a well known resident of this city died at his home on Church street, Sunday afternoon after a lingering illness due to the infirmities of old age, having reached the age of eighty-seven years.

Mrs. Thompson preceded her husband to the grave eleven years ago and one son Sleethe died four years ago. Sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren also survive.

William H. Thompson (1842-1929)The Thompson family had made their home at 620 East Church street ever since 1889 and it was there that Mr. Thompson passed away.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:45 from the residence of his daughter Mrs. Chas. Wattson on Main street to the Methodist church at two o’clock. Rev. Wm. People conducted the funeral service and Mrs. Carrie Long sang “Will the Circle be Unbroken” and Mrs. C. H Dorris, Mrs. G.C. Bartells, Mrs. A.C. Powell and Mrs. Carrie Long sang “Sweet Bye and Bye” and “ Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.” Mrs. Clara Heuer presided at the organ.

The pallbearers were Wm. Lepp, Sr., Jos. Long, Jas. Hohn, John Banks, Jas. Bailey, and Henry Schoettle. Internment was made in the Glenwood cemetery.

The funeral was largely attended by sympathizing relatives and friends of the family and many beautiful floral offerings were sent as tokens of condolence and sympathy.
