Gottlieb
Moritz Wilhelm, aged 79 years, 8 months and 12
days, passed away at the family home at four
oclock Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Wilhelm was
born in Saxony, Germany, February 21, 1841. He
came to America when 10 years of age, settling in
this neighborhood. He was a member of the Union
army during the Civil War for three years, being
released from service in 1864. He then was
connected with Joseph Peers in a planning mill.
Shortly after he went into business for himself,
opening a furniture and undertaking
establishment. After thirty-seven years of
successful business he retired.He is survived by six
children, Moritz, Jr., Mrs. Kate Shilling and
Mrs. Theodore Ambrosius of tis city, Mrs. J.
Justhoff of Danville, Mrs. George Kienzle of St.
Louis and Mrs. O.L. Huff of Saginaw, Mich., three
grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Jiasz
of Big Springs, Neb.
The funeral will
be held this afternoon at two oclock from
the residence to the Lutheran church. Internment
will be held at the Lutheran cemetery.
The deceased was a
member of the G.A.R.
