William H. Ward & fellow soldiers of Company D, 4th Illinois Volunteer Infantry at Camp Tanner in Springfield, Illinois.
The medal, posted above, was issued to all officers and men who served in the Army of Occupation commencing after the surrender of Santiago until May 20, 1902. The Sixth Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry served in the Army of Occupation.
