| Jasper
was born 15 May 1874 in Lexington,
Lauderdale County, Alabama. He enlisted
as a Private in Company K 8th United
States Infantry on 17 October 1898 at
Camp Wheeler in Huntsville, Madison
County, Alabama.  He was discharged
by General Order # 40 AGO on 12 May 1898
at Camp Wheeler.
Jasper
died 18 April 1952 at the V.A. Hospital
in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennesse.
He was a resident of Huntsville at the
time of his death. He was laid to rest at
Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville. Betty
Cash marked his grave in 2004. He had
remained a forgotten warrior for 52 years
until the recent marking.
