Mr. Ernest H. Isom of Cuba, R.R. 2,
Collinsville, a veteran of the Spanish-American
War, died on Friday, February 22 at his home at
the age of sixty-eight. Mr. Isom was born January
19, 1878, in Jackson County, Illinois, son of the
late Albert and Isabelle Isom. He was a retired
farmer for the past twelve years.The funeral was held at 3
pm. Sunday, February 24, from the Schroeppel
Funeral Home, with the Rev. Theo. H. Roschke
officiating. Internment was made in St. John's
Cemetery, where members of the Nelson A. Miles
Camp No. 61, Department of Illinois, Veterans of
the Spanish-American War, conducted services.
Nineteen members of the camp, including officers,
were present at the funeral.
Mr. Isom is
survived by his wife, Nellie S. Isom; three
children, Mrs. Hazel Baldridge of Harvey,
Illinois, Mrs. Irene Costello of Fairmount City
and Robert Isom of Collinsville; two brothers,
Bert Isom of East St. Louis and Walter Isom of
Portland, Oregon; a sister, Mrs. Bessie McCord,
of Sparta, Illinois, and five grandchildren.
