Sep 9-10; An article in the Memphis Commercial
Appeal newspaper mentioned two men by name: Otto
Heckel, age 87, a retired ship rigger from
Langolis, OR; who was 15 when he enlisted and
served on the USS Atlanta; and William J. Otjean,
91, of Euclid, OK; past national commander of the
group. It was also noted that about 500 people
attended the reunion, of which about 100 were
veterans; the others being relatives of veterans.
