Barlow:  age 48 at enlistment; height 5' 7"; light hair; blue eyes; fair complexion; married; occupation ship carpenter and caulker; born in Rochester, Monroe county, New York; at time of enlistment, residing in Attica, Indiana; enlisted August 20, 1861; mustered in on October 31, 1861, at Springfield, Missouri by Major John Holman (later Lieut. Col. of the 26th).
