Private; Company A; age 24; height 5' 9"; dark hair; hazel eyes; dark complexion; single; farmer; born in Montgomery county, Illinois; residing in Montgomery county at time of enlistment on September 6, 1861; mustered into service September 19, 1861 at St. Louis, MO by a Captain Tracy; Died May 31, 1862 at Farmington, Miss of disease.

Arthur Blackwell was originally buried in Farmington, Miss, but his body was relocated to Corinth, Mississippi and buried in what is now the Corinth National Cemetery.  He is believed to be buried in section B, grave 5704, although not confirmed by the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs.
