Nathan Blankenship

Nathan Blankenship  private  Co. D, and Co. H., 26th MO Inf 

Full Roster information:

Nathan Blankenship: private; company D & H; age 26; height 5' 8 5/8"; flaxon hair; blue eyes; light complexion; married; farmer; born in Hamlet, Illinois; residing in Maries county, Missouri, at time of enlistment on January 9, 1862; was mustered in on January 10, 1862 at Castle Rock, Missouri,  by a Lieut. William Wherry.  Died, no record received no date.

Nathan Blankenship was buried at what is now the Memphis National Cemetery, in Memphis, Tennessee.  The records show him as buried under the name A. Blankenship, but rank and company indicate that A. Blankenship and Nathan Blankenship are the same individual.  He is believed to be buried in plot 4551, although not confirmed by the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs.
