Keokuk, IA November 22, 1862
I have examined Corp. Francis Bourbon, under Capt. McFall's he is incapable
of performing his duties because: Paraiysis of Flexon muscles of right leg with atrophy of a portion of the muscles of the hip joint causing lameness segrrela of typhoid fever. Has done no duty for seven months disability admitted to this hospital July 10, 1862. Discharged this 30 November 1862. 

Declaration For Original Invalid Pension 4/09/1882
It is:

State of Missouri, Franklin County 4 September 1882 Francis Bourbon age 40, resident of twp. of Prairie, Franklin Co. MO says he was enrolled November 1861 in Co I, 26 Reg't MO Vol. Commanded by Col. Boomer, was honorably discharged at Keokuk IA on Nov 1862, his personal discription is:
age 40, height: 5'10"
complexion: light, hair: lt. brown, eyes: blue.

On duty at Corinth, Mississippi about June 1862 was taken with rheumatiz in right leg which disabled him from doing duty until he was discharged because of disability. Was treated in the hospital at Keokuk IA, and frequently in tents for same disease before he was sent to hospital in Iowa. He has not been in service since discharged stated above.

Since leaving the service he has resided in Franklin County, his occupation being a farmer, he was a farmer before entering the service. Is now intirely disable due to the events of the service. Never has applied for a pension. Address is Grubville, Franklin Co. MO.

September 14, 1906

In response to commucation of Aug 11, 1906 you are advised that the testimony of Dr. John Butler filed Feb 21, 1906 in the above cited Claim For Increase of pension has been carefully examined with all other evidence in this case and no natural increase in your disability from pensional causes is shown. Therefore a medical exam is not warrented. 

A family tradition suggests that Francis Bourbon saved the life of his grandfather, a Mr. Emily. It was said that while living in Keokuk IA, Mr. Emily was very ill and it was thought that he was dying. Francis took care of him, and helped him to get home to MO.
