• William was born on December 23, 1833, in Franklin county, Missouri.
• Augusta R. Evatt was born on May 10, 1840 in Ireland.
• Enlisted on Oct. 2, 1861, as a private and was described as 5' 11" height, dark complexion, gray eyes, black hair and was working as a farmer.
• Honorably discharged on December 19, 1864 at Millers Station, Georgia.
• William L. Wheeler and Augusta R. Evatt were married on January 26, 1865 in the St. John's Church in Cleveland, Ohio by Lewis Burton, Rector.
• Children:
  Eva Wheeler-Whitcom, born November 25, 1865
  William E. Wheeler, born November 12, 1871, residing in Lacross, Wisconsin in 1898.
• 1885 - about this time fell from a railroad bridge, about 22 ft., and caused permanent injury to hip.
• 1901 - weighed 167 pounds.
• 1897 - diagnosed with chronic cough, total deafness in right ear and partial deafness in left ear.
• 1900 - was dependant upon son-in-law for support.
• Augusta R. Evatt-Wheeler died on April 1, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri.  She was receiving 30 dollars a month from her widow's pension when she died.

Augusta Wheeler's death certificate shows that she was born May 10, 1840 and died April 1, 1924.  She died in the St. Mary's Hospital in Kansas City, with the cause of death listed as Angina Pectoris, commonly known as a heart attack.  Her father was listed as Charles Evatt an immigrant from Ireland.  Her mother was unknown.  Augusta was buried with her husband William in Elmwood Cemetery in Kansas City.
