Elijah Tucker

Elijah Tucker was b 1823 d 1905, was in the SC 18th Infantry and the 5th Cavalry, paroled at Appomattox. He lived in Union Co, SC 1850 with wife Eleanor Willard and baby James. Other children: Garley, Elijah, Willis, Hupport (Hubby, Herbert), Silas, Beriah (Berry, Beauregard), Ida (male), Lawrence. Was in Union Co until 1880 when they moved to Laurens Co, SC (which may have been just across the Enoree River) until his death in upper Laurens Co. He was on Laurens Co pension rolls. I cannot find his parents. He had a brother George who married a Holcombe and perhaps a bro. named Willis and according to oral history a brother Hosea who went to NC. In one census he stated father b VA, mother in Germany.

John & Robert S. Tucker

John & his brother Robert both served in the Union Cavalry. The following document was obtained from the department of the Interior, Bureau of Penison:
State of Arkansas, County of Madison.
On the 24th day of May, 1912, personally appeared before me, a notary public within and for the county and State aforesaid, John Tucker who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 70 years of age, and resident of Weathers, county of Madison, State of Ark; and that he is the indentical person who was enrolled at Fayetteville, Ark, under the name of John Tucker, on the 1st day of June, 1863, as a Private in Company E., 6th Regiment of Calvary, MO. Vol. After was a Corporal in the service of the United States, in the Civil war, and was Honorably Discharged at New Orleans on the 12th day of Sept, 1865. He stated he was born on Jan 3, 1842 in Franklin Co., AR (Ozark or Webb City).
That he is a pensioner under certificate No. 868489. He made this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States under the provisions the act of May 11, 1912; living at Weathers, County of Madison, State of Arkansas.
