Joseph McKenzie, aged 77 years, served as a private in Company D, Fourteenth Regiment Kentucky Volunteer Infantry, from December 13, 1863, to September 15, "1865 (1 year and 9 months), and is now a pensioner under the act of July 14, 1862, at $30 per month for rheumatism and disease of heart.

Soldier is pensioned under the general law at $30, rated upon medical examinations showing disability from pensioned causes equivalent to the loss of a hand or foot.

Evidence filed June 14, 1912, medical and lay, shows that pensioner requires the aid of another person about all the time; he does not own any land, money, or personal property of any value, and has no support except his pension.

His age. disabilities, and poverty justify an increase to $40 a month.
